The Board of Directors of Medipost Holdings today announced the appointment of Mr Mziwandile Noel Guliwe as chief executive officer of the Group, effective from the beginning of April 2019.
Commenting on the appointment, Ms Mamedupi Matsipa, chairperson of Medipost Holdings, said Guliwe has considerable expertise and experience within the healthcare sector and is the ideal candidate to lead the group into the future.
“Over his illustrious career, Noel Guliwe has become one of the leading figures within the country’s healthcare landscape. He is ideally placed to take Medipost Holdings to new levels of prosperity as we serve the medical professionals, patients and wholesalers who rely on our services,” added Matsipa. “We also believe his strong relationships within the greater healthcare and pharmaceutical industries will stand the group and its clients in excellent stead.”
“With over a quarter of a century’s experience in the South African pharmaceutical industry, Guliwe brings with him a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the landscape in which the Medipost Pharmacy, MediLogistics, Kawari Wholesalers and MediTraining Academy brands operate,” she noted.
Guliwe joins Medipost Holdings from his previous post at Aspen Pharmacare, where he served as chief executive officer of the company’s South African operations for almost a decade.
Guliwe has served as chairperson of Innovative Medicines South Africa and as Pharma forum stakeholder leader on the Healthcare Charter negotiations and is a former member of the Medicine Control Council (MCC) Appeals Committee.
Among his many professional achievements are the introduction of highly successful generic medicines to the domestic market, which have preserved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, improved quality of life and driven sustainability of the industry through strengthening the availability of quality generic medicines.
“The Board of Medipost Holdings is looking forward to Mr Guliwe’s valuable contribution and takes great pleasure in welcoming him to the Group. We wish him every success in his new role,” concluded Ms Matsipa.
